The Microsoft data scientist's salary range varies based on their level in the company. Data scientists come under the Data and Applied science department that also includes Machine Learning Scientists and Applied Scientists.

This level (denoted by a number) helps the company to understand your post and determine your pay, bonus, and stock range. Also, other factors such as which city you work in play a role in determining your salary as a data scientist at Microsoft as well. 

For the Data and Applied Sciences department, the levels range from 59 to 70. These have been mapped in the following manner:

  • Levels 65-67: This bracket includes positions such as "Principal Data & Applied Scientist."
