Director of Engineering, Netflix

Average Annual Compensation: $850,000

As a Director of Engineering at Netflix, you will lead the engineering team responsible for the security of the Netflix streaming video service, including applications, infrastructure, and operations. 

This role involves working with engineers to help them build and operate secure systems and applications and also work to protect all of Netflix’s member data. You will coordinate all engineering activities within the organization and ensure that goals are met, standards of quality are upheld, and legal regulations are adhered to.

Vice President of Engineering, Google 

Average Annual Compensation: $685,000

As the Vice President of Engineering at Google, you will lead a strategy and roadmap for Google's continued adoption and usage of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will enable Google's product teams to continue creating excellent products for billions of users seamlessly. 

In this role, you must have extensive Engineering or Product leadership experience in leading and executing large-scale infrastructure and development initiatives that impact multiple product lines in the organization. 

You will also need to be creative and analytical, with a proven track record of effectively managing an organization's use of Cloud platforms, requiring a concerted effort across a large group of senior stakeholders.

Senior Open Source Software Engineer, Netflix 

Average Annual Compensation: $500,000

In this role, you will be required to contribute to Netflix’s industry leading big data processing engines and work with other companies invested in big data to build out open source big data solutions. 

You will develop features for big data query engines and technologies like Spark, Presto, Druid, and Iceberg. Additionally, you will contribute to open-source projects and advance the state of big data. 

Director of Engineering, Google 

Average Annual Compensation: $300,000 PA

The Director of Engineering at Google is responsible for product strategy, driving project goals, and developing software engineering teams. In this role, you will manage engineering leaders across multiple units and locations and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

To succeed in this role, you must have a deep understanding of software (operating systems, cloud) due to the evolving and growing nature of the organization’s business. 

You are required to have a solid understanding of distributed systems at scale. You will be exposed to building a complex cloud service as well as managing a hyper-scale business within Google Cloud.

Software Engineering Director, Apple 

Average Annual Compensation: $300,000

As a software engineering director at Apple, you will be in charge of the administrative, technical, and strategic direction of the product engineering team. 

You will oversee complex software development projects and direct the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications/operating systems according to business needs. You will establish policies and procedures that produce high-quality software products and services.

Engineering Manager, Facebook 

Average Annual Compensation: $300,000

Engineering managers at Facebook plan and coordinate engineering projects and supervise multiple teams in the research and development of new products. You can expect to work on many projects simultaneously build and manage teams of engineers, formulate and execute strategies, and coordinate with other leadership members. 

Your responsibilities will include proposing budgets for projects, overseeing all activities related to each project, and researching and developing new designs and products.

To be a successful engineering manager at Facebook, you should have great communication skills, exceptional foresight, working knowledge of different engineering disciplines, and aptitude to manage risk. 

Software Engineer, Facebook

Average Annual Compensation: $250,000

You'll work in a constantly evolving environment as a software engineer at Facebook. You'll create, maintain, audit, and improve systems to meet the organization’s particular needs, often as advised by a systems analyst or architect. You will test both hardware and software systems to diagnose system faults and resolve them.

The role also covers writing diagnostic programs and designing and writing code for operating systems and software to ensure efficiency. When required, you'll make recommendations for future developments.

Senior Software Engineering Manager, Apple 

Average Annual Compensation: $250,000 PA

As a senior software engineering manager at Apple, you will build, develop, and retain a team of software engineers. You will act as a role model for the team when it comes to getting things done, meeting, and exceeding expectations. 

You're required to have skills in relationship management, and partnership is top-notch as this role requires working with quality engineers, management, developers, SREs, and EPMs. 

While the primary role is managing junior engineers, you should have deep technical knowledge of cloud computing and distributed systems, platform as a service, and microservices architecture. It is also expected that you do not hesitate to code, actively participate in design and code reviews, and have strong experience working with short release cycles.

Senior Software Development Engineer, Amazon

Average Annual Compensation: $200,000

As a senior software development engineer at Amazon, you will be required to build, ship, and scale knowledge experiences on mobile that delight users. Your responsibilities will include all aspects of software development, such as leading the design, implementation, and delivery of software in a complex problem space. 

You will play a critical role in building software products and features from the ground up. You will also mentor junior engineers and lead the architecture, design, development, and launch of core product features. 

For this role, you must have experience in a lead role in developing complex software systems that have been successfully launched to customers. It would be best if you exhibited a demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers in all aspects of the software engineering craft. An experience with machine learning is a must.

Production Engineer, Facebook

Average Annual Compensation: $140,000

Production engineers work in the infrastructure domain of software and systems engineering projects overseeing the reliability and scalability of products created by Facebook. The job involves identifying areas of improvement and taking preventive measures to avoid potential delays in project deployment. 

Working with technology that impacts billions of people worldwide, production engineers write and debug code to keep Facebook running. In addition to possessing “a burning desire to ‘Move Fast and Be Bold,’ you need at least 3 years of experience and sound knowledge of programming languages and web technologies.
